Fort Monroe is a wonderful place to visit. It was so cute. The Chamberlin Hotel is a landmark building that provided guest facilities, as well as banquet rooms and office space for those visiting and working at Fort Monroe for three quarters of the 20th century. The Chamberlin offers free tours of their community to help families learn more about what they offer, however, in-person visits may be restricted as a COVID-19 precaution. They're just coming out of COVID, so they are still starting to open up more programs, like get-togethers for meals. They were never replaced after the war. I liked the view. I toured The Chamberlin. The staff was very knowledgeable and open to suggestions on how best decide for independent living. The food is good, the people are very helpful, and it's reasonably priced.
