She was brought home from the hospital on December 23 as a Christmas present to her three older siblings and baptized on January 1, 1928 to mark her new birth in Christ (and celebrate the New Year).  Always active in her father’s parish, Concordia Lutheran Church, Dorothy was confirmed on April 6, 1941. Mrs. Smith was her daughter Lisas sole caregiver for nearly 31 years. She is survived by : her daughters, Patty Stanfield and Debbie Higgins (Dennis); and her grandsons, Matthew Higgins and Eric Higgins. She was born October 16, 1936 in Ringgold, Georgia to her late parents, Mose. She retired from driving a school bus for Orange Grove in 1999.
