You can typically tell your caterpillar's been compromised when it starts to grow smaller and skinnier. At that point, there is nothing you can do to help it along. They don't have a chance in the wild with so many creatures out to get them. If so, be aware that Bt is certified organic (a natural soil dwelling bacteria) and although it does not cause green vomit and takes three days to kill, it is deadly.
